Modern dentistry offers many options to help patients who grind their teeth, who have an improper bite, and who have had root canals. Teeth become less structurally sound as we age. Lost fillings, decay or cracked enamel can also make people more likely to experience large-scale defects on the teeth’s surface. If you feel less than confident in your smile due to damaged teeth, a dental crown, often referred to as a cap, can improve the appearance and function of your teeth.
To protect your teeth from further damage, Dr. Lee and his staff may recommend a crown to add structural support and durability to a damaged tooth. A crown is a tooth-shaped cap placed over a tooth that is badly damaged or decayed and is made to look like your other teeth. If damage affects only the outer enamel layer of your tooth, we’ll remove the affected portion and restore the tooth with a porcelain, metal, or metal-free crown to stabilize it and protect it from further damage.
